Bamboo gives our Asli Arts chimes a mellow, musical and enchanting sound unlike any other chime. Our chimes are made with pride by craftsmen of Bali and Vietnam. Each piece is individually hand-carved and hand-crafted. Coconut and bamboo are used to make these instruments of nature. In addition, each chime is hand-toned by musicians. Testing the sound of each tube, our musician/craftsmen create chimes that sound as good as they look. By hand-toning each tube and selecting a range of sizes, each chime produces a unique melody. Woodstock Chimes are the original, musically-tuned, high-quality wind chimes known worldwide for their superior sound. When listening to a Woodstock Chime, you hear a fine musical instrument played by the wind. More than 30 years ago, the first Woodstock Chime was created by founder and owner Garry Kvistad from an aluminum lawn chair he found in a landfill. As a professional musician and instrument designer, he was fascinated by the Scales of Olympus, a 7th century pentatonic scale that can't be played on a modern piano. Garry and his wife Diane founded Woodstock Percussion, Inc. in 1979 and it remains a family-owned business in New York's Hudson Valley.
